Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, has received recognition as a political icon of democracy in Nigeria, as reported by AIT News.

The honoudr was bestowed by the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) during its National Convention in Abuja.

Peter Ameh, the National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), accepted the award on Obi’s behalf at the convention.

Ameh said that the award symbolises the trust Nigerians placed in Obi’s sincerity and integrity during the 2023 elections. He also spoke on the nation’s high cost of living and insecurity, saying it is a result of governmental overspending.

COPDEM explained that the award acknowledges champions of democracy whose steadfast commitment inspires hope for Nigeria’s future.

The Coalition is an independent political action group, established by Nigerians motivated to contribute to the nation’s development.
